Things to Do in Playa de Palma?
If you are looking for things to do in Playa de Palma, you can plan a full evening without travelling into Palma city.
Finish your time at the beach, return to your hotel to shower and change, take a short walk along the promenade, stop for one drink or an ice cream, then join us at Tabana from 8pm for dinner and live performances. From around 11pm, our DJ-led after-party begins, and we stay open until 2am.
The key is to plan around real distances. Playa de Palma is almost 6 km from end to end, so somewhere that looks nearby on a resort map could be a 30 or 40-minute walk away.
A Quick Playa de Palma Evening Plan
In June and July, sunset can fall after our 8pm dinner arrival. On those dates, decide whether the sunset or the complete dinner experience matters more to you. Trying to do both usually means arriving late and missing some of the live acts.
Playa de Palma and Palma City Are Different Places
Playa de Palma is the coastal resort area between Can Pastilla and S'Arenal. Palma city centre is where you will find the cathedral, the old town, Passeig del Born and Santa Catalina.
The names cause genuine confusion because Playa de Palma sits within the municipality of Palma. A listing that says “Palma” is not automatically in the city centre, and a city-centre booking is not a short stroll from a Playa de Palma hotel.
If your accommodation is in Playa de Palma and you want a beach walk, dinner, entertainment and later music, staying in the resort removes two taxi journeys and keeps the evening together.
How Long Is the Playa de Palma Promenade?
The continuous seafront route from the marina at Can Pastilla to Club Nàutic S'Arenal is approximately 5.9 km. Walking it takes around 1 hour 19 minutes without a long stop. Allow closer to 1 hour 30 minutes at a relaxed pace.
The sandy section commonly described as Playa de Palma is approximately 4.6 km long. This is why different websites give figures ranging from approximately 4.5 km to 6 km. The shorter figure refers to the beach, while the longer one covers the wider seafront route between the two resort ends.
For an easy pre-dinner walk, cover one or two Balneari sections rather than the entire promenade.
How the Balneario Numbers Work
The numbered beach stations are the simplest way to navigate Playa de Palma. You may see the Spanish word “Balneario” or the Catalan “Balneari”. Both refer to the same numbered seafront points.
Balneari 15 is at the Can Pastilla end. The numbers fall as you walk south-east towards S'Arenal, with Balneari 1 at the S'Arenal end.
Balneari 6 is the best-known nightlife section. Tabana is just behind the promenade between Balneari 8 and 9.
If a hotel, taxi driver or local gives you a Balneari number, they are giving you a much more useful location than simply saying “Playa de Palma”.
Named Places and Walking Times From Tabana
These times start at our entrance at Avenida Son Rigo 4 and follow standard walking routes. They are rounded to the nearest minute. Add approximately five minutes if you are walking with children, wearing heels or moving through a crowded promenade.
What to Do in Playa de Palma Before Dinner
1. Choose the Right Part of the Beach
For the shortest route to Tabana, spend the late afternoon around Balneari 8 or 9. Both are only a few minutes from our door.
Balneari 15 and the Can Pastilla end feel calmer, but walking to us from there takes approximately 30 minutes. From Balneari 1 in S'Arenal, allow approximately 27 minutes.
Use the live Palma sunset calendar to see whether sunset fits before dinner. If it falls after 8pm, a late beach finish will not fit the complete Tabana dinner and show experience.
2. Walk a Section of the Promenade
A short promenade walk is one of the easiest things to do in Playa de Palma before dinner.
Start around Balneari 8 or 9 and walk through one or two neighbouring sections. This gives you time beside the sea without turning the walk into a race back to your hotel.
Do the full Can Pastilla to S'Arenal route earlier in the day. At 5.9 km and approximately 1 hour 19 minutes, it is not a casual stroll to squeeze in before an 8pm reservation.
3. Put Water Sports in the Afternoon
El Niño Surf Center in Can Pastilla offers SUP, kayaking, windsurfing, wingfoil and e-foil. It is approximately 2.4 km or 32 minutes on foot from Tabana.
BonaOna Surf School offers surfing, kayaking, SUP and windsurfing approximately 2.8 km away, a 38-minute walk.
For an 8pm dinner, aim to finish the activity by 6pm. That leaves time to return equipment, travel back to your hotel, shower, change and reach us without rushing.
4. Visit Palma Aquarium Before the Evening Begins
Palma Aquarium is approximately 300 to 500 metres from the nearest beachfront access, which takes around four to six minutes on foot. From the aquarium to Tabana, allow 21 minutes for the 1.5 km walk.
From 28 March to 31 October, the aquarium opens at 9:30am, last admission is at 5pm and the building closes at 6:30pm.
From 1 November to 31 December, it closes at 3:30pm from Monday to Friday. On weekends and bank holidays, it closes at 5:30pm. The official Palma Aquarium timetable carries the current schedule.
Allow two to three hours for your visit. A practical plan is to enter by 3:30pm, leave at about 6pm, return to your hotel to change and arrive at Tabana from 8pm.

5. Shop Earlier in the Day
FAN Mallorca Shopping is useful for fashion, essentials and air-conditioned shopping, but it is not on the beachfront.
It is 5.6 km from Tabana, so walking takes approximately 1 hour 17 minutes. A taxi takes around 11 minutes and public transport takes approximately 29 minutes in normal traffic.
Treat it as an afternoon activity rather than a quick stop between the promenade and dinner.
6. Keep Pre-Dinner Drinks Simple
Choose one seafront terrace, cocktail stop, café or ice-cream stop close to Balneari 8 or 9. Thirty minutes is enough.
A longer bar crawl creates two common problems. The group arrives at different times, and part of the dinner entertainment is missed.
What Playa de Palma Is Like From April to November
The beach and promenade are public and remain accessible throughout the year. What changes is the number of seasonal businesses, beach services and people on the seafront.
The promenade does not have a closing time. When we say it empties, we mean that footfall falls sharply. Weather, football fixtures and events can make individual nights busier or quieter.
Make Dinner the Anchor of the Evening
The hardest part of planning Playa de Palma at night is not finding options. It is making several timings work together.
If the group books dinner in one place, entertainment elsewhere and a club afterwards, one late taxi or slow meal can disrupt the whole plan. Your dinner reservation should be the fixed point. Build the beach, aquarium, shopping or water activity around that time.
If you want a quiet meal followed by an early night, a traditional restaurant is the right choice. If you want dinner to become the main night out, we have designed Tabana for that.
Dinner, Live Performances and Late-Night Music at Tabana
We are at Avenida Son Rigo 4, just behind the Playa de Palma promenade between Balneari 8 and 9.
Dinner begins from 8pm. Our menu includes sushi, sharing plates, pasta, seafood, Mediterranean dishes, grilled meats and desserts. This makes it easier for couples and groups with different preferences to eat at the same table.
Live acts appear at intervals around our central stage during dinner. The programme can include dance, acrobatics, fire performances and themed choreography.
There is no single showtime because the performances are part of the full evening. Arriving late could mean missing some of the acts.
From around 11pm, our DJs move the room into the after-party. You can stay with your group, order drinks and continue the night without travelling to another venue or joining another queue.

How to Get Home From Tabana
Walking Back to Your Hotel
Hotels around Pure Salt Garonda, Iberostar Selection Playa de Palma and Iberostar Waves Cristina are between two and eight minutes away.
HM Gran Fiesta is approximately ten minutes away. Hipotels Playa de Palma Palace, Iberostar Selection Llaut Palma and HM Ayron Park are approximately 19 to 21 minutes away.
For the Can Pastilla marina or the far end of S'Arenal, the walk is approximately 39 to 42 minutes. At 2am, a taxi will usually be more practical.
Taxi Rank and Peak-Season Waiting Time
The nearest listed public taxi rank is at Carrer de Marbella 33, beside the fire and police facilities. It is approximately 800 metres or an 11-minute walk from Tabana.
A booked taxi can collect directly from our address at Avenida Son Rigo 4.
At 1am in July and August, use 20 to 30 minutes as a realistic planning allowance. On Friday and Saturday nights, during rain or when several large venues empty together, the wait can move towards 45 minutes.
Outside these peak periods, five to 15 minutes is more typical. If you need to leave at 1am, begin arranging your taxi at approximately 12:30am.
The Late Bus
EMT line 25 runs daily between S'Arenal, Playa de Palma and Plaça de la Reina beside Palma Cathedral.
The Balneari 9 stops are between one and four minutes from our door. Use the bus marked “Pl. Reina | Catedral” for Palma and the service marked “S'Arenal” for the eastern end of the beach.
The published operating window runs until 1:55am, with the final bus reaching intermediate stops later than its departure from the terminus. For a low-stress journey, leave Tabana by 1:40am if you are relying on the bus.
If you stay until we close at 2am, use a taxi. The official EMT line 25 page shows the route and stops.
The A2 is the airport bus. It is not the service for travelling to Palma city centre after dinner.

Can Pastilla marina to S'Arenal marina is 5.9 km and takes approximately 1 hour 19 minutes. Build your evening around one section of the beach.
Trying to Watch a Late Summer Sunset and Arrive at 8pm
When sunset falls after 8pm, you need to choose between sunset and the complete dinner experience. Arriving late means missing part of the meal and live entertainment.
Ending a Water Activity Too Late
Finish by 6pm for an 8pm dinner. Returning equipment, walking to your hotel, showering and changing usually take longer than groups expect.
Going Straight From the Beach to Dinner
Please arrive clean and presentable. Sportswear, football shirts, tank tops, flip-flops and beachwear are not permitted, and men need closed shoes.
Arriving Only for the After-Party
The complete Tabana experience begins with dinner from 8pm. Arriving at 11pm means missing the performances that take place during the earlier part of the night.
Leaving the Journey Home Until 2am
Line 25 is useful before the end of the night, but a taxi is the practical option after closing. During peak summer, allow 20 to 30 minutes rather than expecting immediate collection.
Waiting Until the Same Day to Reserve
Weekends, celebrations and peak-season dates can fill. Early booking also gives larger groups a better chance of sitting together.
